Internet Pornography
I
want to ask you a question.
“If a person enjoys Internet pornography, is he or she
mentally sick? “ Depending on who the person is, answers will vary.
If the person is a teenager, we can say it is normal, not
that it is the right thing to do. But if the person is married and
even yet, has children …, we can say that person has some issues.
For psychiatrists, addiction to internet porn
is a mental disease, psychological disorders or sexual perversion.
Here is a simple scenario of how people go deep into the pornography
world.
Most of the people begin enjoying porn for fun the first time. Some
give up viewing it, partly due to the lack of interest in it or due
to a sense of guilt. But some people don’t give it up. They continue
to enjoy it, wanting more sensational ones. Without it, they cannot
have normal, healthy sexual lives.
It is very addictive.
Then, when just peeking into other people’s body doesn’t satisfy
their hunger, they start to invent some more vulgar things. They
upload their naked bodies or in a worst case, even their own sex
scenes on websites. Furthermore, they enjoy what other viewers are
saying about their WORKS. Psychiatrists say
it’s the early stage of exhibitionism and sadomasochism. Maybe,
there are more other forms of deviations.
The Following is a quotation from
Treating an
Addiction to Internet Pornography.
"Lawyers
reported that over half of the divorces they handled were due to one
of the spouse's excessive viewing of online pornography."
According to Family Safe Media, pornographic websites make up 12% of what is available on the Web today. Not only that, but pornographic requests comprise 25% of Google searches conducted daily. Family Safe Media also reported that 10% of men surveyed felt that they were addicted to online adult material.2
Other results backup this claim. A study
performed in 2000 reported that 25 million
Americans spend up to ten hours a week viewing
online pornography and that another 4.7 million
spend more than eleven hours a week. In the
same year, the Census Bureau estimated that the total population in
the US was 281 million. These numbers corroborate the report
by Family Safe Media, indicating that 9% of people
spend a considerable amount of time on the Internet just looking at
adult material.
How
scary are the statistics… It’s almost
like an epidemic. If you think you’re sinking into
Internet pornography now, you’d better find a way for treatment
before the devastating consequences come.
